Post about how awesome Looney Labs is, coming soon. Job available there: http://www.wunderland.com/

Just be it (swoosh)

Saw this phrase graffiti stencilled on a stoop in Hyde Park, Chicago, where I'm currently visiting J. with C. :

Be Love Because You Are.

It made me think, possibly because it sounds so cliche, like the perfect soundbite of wisdom: a sugary companion of the Wiccan Rede ('an it harm none, do what ye will') and the Golden Rule ('that which is hateful to you, do not do to others.').

It's pretty, but is it true?

Are people love?

What does it mean to be love?

How would you enact this love practically?

Am I just speaking bullshit?

That pastry is full of booze????

Oh yes, it is. For my 24th birthday yesterday, my incredible housemate (and BCFF) E. did something she'd promised to do a long time ago....combine my favorite gelatinous hooch with a birthday cake. It was tasty, it was alcoholic, and boy was it a dream come true.

E. used a standard yellow cake mix, red-flavored kosher jello powder, and vodka to create this incredible confection. There were even going to be little jello dinosaurs on top but the wrong pot was used so they became treif :( Why do dinosaurs make me so happy, you ask? Let T-Rex show you:

For the logistically-minded among you, I believe she used a mold in two sections. Check it out: (pictures to come)

My birthday also involved getting a job for when I finally leave this grad program, getting an apartment for next year, and almost getting kidnapped by friends and taken to dinner in Baltimore. (We ate Pita+ instead). It was my first surprise birthday celebration ever and I learned that I have amazingly wonderful friends here. Good stories, but I know you're just here for the Jello Shot Cake.

If you've got an alcoholic chocolate pudding recipe, let me know....

Handy

Last night, I fixed a 14 pin connector using only kitchen shears while explaining on the phone how to make a taser glove from a disposable camera.
I feel like the bastard child of MacGyver and Martha Stewart.

Ginormous!

For YEARS, I have advocated the use of the word "ginormous."
Finally, some recognition.

I anxiously await the mainstream acceptence of "fantabulous" and "qewish" as well.
~CH

***UPDATE***
It has come to my attention that "fantabulous" is in the dictionary.

So I replace that suggestion with "chillax."
